The Blind Leading the Blind, completed in 1568, portrays six blind men in a diagonal procession stumbling into a stream, illustrating the biblical parable from Matthew 15:14. Bruegel painted the scene in distemper on linen canvas with meticulous realism; each figure shows a different stage of blindness, capturing afflictions like corneal opacity. The composition forms a descending line that echoes the church roof in the background, underscoring the inevitable fall. The work measures 86 × 154 cm and is held by the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples.
