at SUNSET is a Scheveningen based art space which shares its space with a shifting selection of national and international artist-run spaces. at SUNSET is a non-regular initiative that seeks to create dialogue, exchange and connection with a focus on the process with artist. Sunday Morning Painters Club reveals conversations between painters and paintings on a quiet Sunday morning.
Evi Vingerling (b. 1979) is an artist engaged with rendering the conflicted history of art with her own embodied experience. Primarily working as a painter, Vingerling’s lush and sumptuous paintings seek to map a space for the creation of a culturally located alphabet—an index of how to read an art history from and through her own worldview. Here, Evi’s lived traumas unfurl, in the abstract, as a distinct set of codified languages entirely her own. Marks at once redolent of something ancient as they are hyper-contemporary, effloresce.
