For the concluding phase of the national project Esploratori della Memoria (Explorers of Memory), already the recipient of the Medal of Representation from the President of the Republic, the Casa del Mutilato in Genoa hosts the exhibition Pensieri lontani. The via crucis of the Tuscan artist, captured in September 1943 by the German army, is testified to through a selection of drawings made by the veteran himself from within the prison camp. These representations are part of Berretti’s most tragic output (collected entirely in Attenti al filo!—from which the heartbreaking scene that gave the volume its title is also on display).
