Chris Sharp Gallery is pleased to present a two-person show of Jovencio de la Paz and Kanitha Tith.
This will be Singaporean-born, Eugene-based Jovencio de la Paz’s second exhibition with the gallery, and Cambodian, Phnom Penh-based artist Kanitha Tith’s debut US-gallery exhibition. The juxtaposition of these two artists offers a rare opportunity to not only see their work in LA, but also to consider their respective approaches to materials, form, and weaving from unique yet complementary angles. Where de la Paz plays with and disrupts conventional weaving techniques primarily on a digital jacquard loom, Tith uses steel wire, which she forms by coiling around thin brass rods, reconfiguring them into loose, open structures, among other techniques.
