i wonder if the car dealership setting adds any unique layers to the experience. wish I could see it in person!!

Daniel Faria Gallery is pleased to present Start Over Every Morning, a solo exhibition of work by Toronto-born, UK-based artist Steve Bishop. This is the first exhibition of Bishop’s work in Canada.

In his artistic practice Steve Bishop explores how mental states can be materialized and conveyed in space, through installations often involving personal belongings and mementos. “If you can have a genuine empathetic or sentimental reaction to an object, then it can transcend that plastic quality of kitsch. I look for that duality,” says Bishop. By subtly distorting familiar, often intimate domestic scenarios, he creates intermediate worlds in which concepts of time are suspended, and clear boundaries between private and public space, exhibition and non-exhibition are blurred.

The work Something to Remember You By takes up the majority of the gallery. Running lengthwise from one wall to the opposite are the repeating forms of a generic white kitchen unit....More expand_more

Daniel Faria Gallery is pleased to present Start Over Every Morning, a solo exhibition of work by Toronto-born, UK-based artist Steve Bishop. This is the first exhibition of Bishop’s work in Canada.

In his artistic practice Steve Bishop explores how mental states can be materialized and conveyed in space, through installations often involving personal belongings and mementos. “If you can have a genuine empathetic or sentimental reaction to an object, then it can transcend that plastic quality of kitsch.
