Kaiserwache is pleased to present “gestohlen bleiben,” the solo exhibition by Mirjam Walter. The exhibition brings together new works on paper as well as several site-specific interventions utilizing glass, and continues Walter’s engagement with the tensions between body image, perception, and gestural painting. The starting point is consistently a struggle with figuration: an attempt to express something through it that simultaneously reveals itself as a failure. Out of this productive misunderstanding between artist and image emerge works that favor detours, forging their path brushstroke by brushstroke.
About the artist:
Mirjam Walter (*1993) is an artist living and working in Freiburg. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg and completed a Master’s degree in Painting at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg.
