Ex nihilo intertwines the simultaneity of opposites, implying both nothingness and creation, the potential of presence and its instant absence. The nothingness in question should be visualized before entering the exhibition space. Does emptiness manifest in the aesthetics of a white square—an objectless field bearing the trace of void—or does nothingness form the foundation of presence, a creative gesture in waiting?
Though ex nihilo carries a biblical resonance, meaning “creation out of nothing,” in the context of this exhibition it represents a confrontation with everyday binaries—wholeness/fragmentation, arrival/departure, memory/forgetting.
