With there, but not, KETUTA ALEXI-MESKHISHVILI (*1979 in Tbilisi, lives and works in Berlin) creates an exhibition specifically conceived for Kunstverein Braunschweig. She integrates everyday objects that reference both classical still lifes and her Georgian heritage. Her photographic practice is characterized by experimental collage techniques, where she manipulates found and original images—through scratching, cropping, or adding handmade marks. She employs both analog and digital reproduction techniques to continually explore the boundaries of photography. For there, but not, the artist engages with the classical architecture of Villa Salve Hospes and alters the traditional relationship between art and exhibition space, with her works not merely framed by the architecture but actively shaping its perception.
