“Because nothing else grows here” (Car rien d'autre ne pousse ici) is a collective proposition that reflects our desire to express the multiple perceptions we have of the places we inhabit, pass through, or even imagine—such as our homes, the forest, the cemetery, sometimes even our own bodies, or places bordering on the imperceptible.
We all share a common attention to our environments and to the concrete and sensory experiences we live. In different yet intimately connected ways, we construct, alongside what already exists, places that are uniquely our own. Whether composite, tense, mechanized, virtual, borrowed, or performed, these places subsist or manifest themselves through our actions.
