Positions of Contemporary Art


International group exhibition at the Austrian Papermaking Museum Steyrer Muhl


The exhibition "PM N°1 – positions of contemporary art" shows how artists understand paper not only as a working material, but also as a conceptual impulse for multi-layered, contemporary works.


Based on the idea of paper as the carrier and origin of artistic thought, the exhibition expands the focus to sculptural works that translate these aesthetic and content-related questions into space. In addition to paper, materials such as bronze, ceramics, concrete and steel are also used – classic materials of the visual arts that open up new levels of meaning.


The contemporary works enter into a dialogue with the architecture of the museum and its historical collections.


The exhibition PM N°1 brings together artistic positions – from drawing and sculpture to spatial installations – and examines the aesthetic and conceptual depth of the medium of paper in the current art-theoretical…
