It is a pleasure to share with you the fourth and final chapter of Coalescence: Happenstance With All Due Intent curated by Paul O’Neill and Shimmer. On 14 September, we open with It’s time man. It Feels Imminent by Sarah Pierce and Shrine of Our Times by Vivienne Griffiths, which form a dialogue on temporality, ritual, and collective memory. Pierce’s work draws on archival fragments and the rehearsal of social gestures, while Griffiths reimagines devotional space as a contemporary site of gathering and reflection. Their practices meet in their attention to how histories are performed, held, and transformed in the present. This is extended through sonic interventions organised with Futura Resistenza, bringing together compositions by Laura Kampman, Marja Ahti, and Natalia Beylis, whose works weave experimental soundscapes that amplify the porousness between visual, ritual, and auditory experience.
