Herald Nix (b.1951) brings a sincere and experimental exploration of beauty into his intimate landscapes, set in British Columbia. Returning to particular landforms over the course of his career, Nix interprets each subject through a rhythm of repeated motif to reveal shifts in lighting, weather, season, and mood over time. Through this contemplative approach to landscape, Nix’s brush strokes, carvings, and textures create a space for the viewer to wander through the emotive process of discovery hidden within the familiar.
Herald Nix lives and works in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. He attended the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University of Art + Design) and has exhibited in Canada, United States and the UK in solo and group exhibitions at galleries that include: Clint Roenisch Gallery, Toronto, ON; Kelowna Art Gallery, Kelowna BC; TrepanierBaer Gallery, Calgary, AB; Steven S.
