Biography
Bill Wang Yi is a visual artist who uses sculpture and installation to create bizarre landscapes where inhuman organic forms merge with liquid environments. His research explores the alienation and reconstruction of various organic forms into unfamiliar, life-like entities. Metaphorically, he satirizes the intergenerational otherness of East Asia in the post-colonial era, characterized by identity mobility, alienation, and displacement. His works often challenge and create a space of alienated, restrictive, coercive, and unfamiliar material and olfactory spaces, condensed into a multi-layered whole within rigidity and liquidity, scent and desire, flesh and shell.
