Biography
Julia Stachura is an art historian and independent curator whose work explores the intersections of photography, power, and memory. She completed her PhD at the School of Humanities at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań in 2025. In 2023–24, she was awarded a Fulbright Junior Research Award, conducting research as a visiting scholar at NYU Tisch School of the Arts—an experience that deepened her commitment to amplifying historically overlooked voices in visual culture. She now serves as a Fulbright Ambassador in Poznań. Julia has curated exhibitions across Poland and the United States, collaborating with art institutions and non-profit organizations to create socially engaged projects. Her research and curatorial practice center on the photography of BIPOC women artists and artists from Central and Eastern Europe, with a particular interest in the invisibility of power structures and the tangibility of memory.
