Sophia Mainka
Biography
Born in Munich in 1990, Sophia Mainka lives and works in Paris. Her artistic practice combines conceptual research with immersive material experimentation, exploring the intersections of sculpture, video, and installation. Moving between human, non-human, and object worlds, her work investigates porous boundaries and develops hybrid feminist and post-anthropocentric narratives in which objects emerge as autonomous actors and established structures of meaning and power are subtly reconfigured.
Mainka studied Fine Arts in Munich and completed her degree in 2020 as a master student of Alexandra Bircken. From 2022 to 2026 she has been teaching sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich.
