Biography
wip collective is a Brussels-based artist duo formed by Jérôme Boulanger (BE) and Thibaut Drouillon (BE).
Together, they use imagery and forms of collective literature drawn from the public domain, which have become almost invisible due to their widespread use, to question the symbolic values and structuring function of these representations. From this perspective, the collective questions what these visual and linguistic productions say about a culture, its memory, its narratives, the values it projects and its relevance in our contemporary world.
Their multidisciplinary work also attempts to deconstruct the constituent aspects of the artistic gesture, of the production of an image. In this sense, the notions of perception and measurement often guide their work and allow them to bring out the absurd in images that are otherwise functional.
