Biography
Kristina Bashkova (b. 1998) is a multidisciplinary artist and independent curator working across photography, installation, graphic media, and video. Beginning her career with photography, she gradually expanded her practice toward constructed, layered projects that merge found materials, textual fragments, and staged imagery. Drawing on cultural theory, philosophy, and literary references, she builds long-term bodies of work that unfold across multiple media and explore the fractured conditions of contemporary subjectivity.
Her recent projects examine themes of social isolation, digital self-perception, and the algorithmic structures shaping modern life. Working with performers, dancers, and actors, she often uses staged photography and video to investigate the tension between surveillance, control, and the persistent desire for freedom and connection.
